Howard Nicholson,
Technical Director

Howard is a metallurgist with 35 years of experience in project development and mine operations management. Formerly the COO of European Minerals Corporation, he contributed to the development of a large copper-gold mine in Kazakhstan, and prior to this had held senior management positions with Ashanti Goldfields, Lonrho, and Anglo American.

Ryan Wilson,
General Counsel

Ryan is a lawyer with over ten years legal experience, having qualified in the Australian Capital Territory in 2005.  Ryan joined CAML in the role of General Counsel in 2012, expanding on the experience he gained whilst working as Legal Officer and Company Secretary from 2008 for Kazakh minerals business, Sunkar Resources, which was listed on London’s AIM market. Prior to this, Ryan gained legal experience working in private practice, and corporate finance experience working in the UK investment banking sector.

Leanne Haneefa,
Group Financial Controller

Leanne is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, having qualified at the National Audit Office in 2009. Leanne joined CAML as Group Financial Controller in December 2014. Prior to joining the company, Leanne was an Associate Director at Capita Asset Services, where she provided interim financial controller services to a range of AIM listed companies in the natural resources sector.

Alex Shapoval,
Director BV, Head of Treasury and Internal Audit

Alex is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA), having qualified whilst working at Deloitte, Ukraine, in the Financial Advisory Services (FAS) Transaction Services Department. Alex joined CAML as Group Financial Controller before the company listed on AIM in 2010, and is now responsible for the group’s treasury function and internal audit, and is part of the Business Development team. Alex is also a Director of CAML’s Holland based subsidiary, CAML Kazakhstan BV. Prior to his role at CAML, Alex held the position of Group Finance Controller with AISI Realty Public, a Ukraine based real estate company.

Louise Wrathall,
Investor Relations

Louise spent much of her career working for 9 years as a mining analyst focussed on London listed companies. Most recently in this role, she worked as part of the No.3 Extel ranked team at Investec covering a wide range of companies including miners in the FTSE100 index and junior miners and explorers. Louise has a degree in geology from the University of Liverpool and a Masters degree in mining geology from the Camborne School of Mines. Louise was previously responsible for Investor Relations in London for GoldBridges Global Resources for two years, and joined CAML in 2015.

Pavel Semenchenko,

With over 17 years’ experience of managing businesses in Kazakhstan and a proven track record in the resources industry, Pavel has excellent management skills and an in-depth knowledge of the country’s business environment.

Oleg Telnoi, General Director,
Kounrad Copper Company

Oleg joined CAML in 2007 with over 10 years’ experience of finance management in the mining industry in Central Asia. He is a qualified engineer and received an MBA in 1997.

Nick Shirley,
CSR Director

Nick has over 20 years of experience in the fields of environmental sciences, social responsibility and hydrogeology gained predominately in the international overseas mining industry in Central Asia, the Former Soviet Union and West Africa. He has formerly worked for the Environment Agency in the United Kingdom, Avocet Mining, Newmont-BHP’s joint venture Society De la Mine de Fer de Guinea, and Orsu Metals as well as operating his own consultancy practice. Nick holds a BSc in Environmental Sciences and a MSc in Hydrogeology from the University of East Anglia. Nick is also CSR Director for Copper Bay.

Saken Ashirbekova,
Business Development Manager

Saken joined CAML in 2010 in order to oversee the development of the commercial SX-EW plant at Kounrad. She was General Director of JSC Varvarinskoye, a wholly-owned subsidiary of European Minerals Corporation, having worked for that company in Kazakhstan since 1996. Prior to that, she worked for Kazakhmys as a senior metallurgical engineer. She is a graduate of the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys with a degree and a PhD in metallurgy, and is a Kazakhstani national.

Colin Hunter,

Colin brings many years’ experience to the Company. Colin spent ten years in South Africa working for the mining companies Impala Platinum Ltd and Gencor Ltd., before moving to Ghana where he spent two years working for Ashanti Gold Mines Ltd as a specialist in minerals processing and bacterial leaching. In the UK, Colin worked with junior mining company Osmium Ltd on a Nickel/PGM project in Siberia and he has also worked extensively in the mining industry in Australia, where he developed and commissioned a nickel mine in the Pilbara region and was a director of a mining technology company, Pacific Ore Limited, (which specialised in bacterial leaching). He was also involved in the start-up and listing on the Australian Stock Exchange of the then tungsten mining company, Vital Metals Limited of which he was a director for 3 years.

Colin graduated from the University of Manchester in 1978 with an honours degree in Metallurgy and went on to study at the Brunel University in Middlesex where he was awarded a PhD for his work on the froth flotation of sulphide minerals.

James Grigg,

James graduated from the University of Western Australia in 1978 and qualified as a chartered accountant in 1981. James joined the corporate finance department of SG Warburg (now UBS Investment Bank) in London in 1986, becoming a Managing Director in 2000. His experience at UBS Investment Bank included advising companies, principally in the UK, Europe and USA, on a wide range of M&A and financing activities. Since late 2002, when he left UBS Investment Bank, James has been working as a consultant, advising primarily developing companies, assisting with financial management, capital raising and business and corporate development.

Juan Pasten,

Chile

Juan is a mining engineer with over 40 years experience. Juan has been involved in all aspects of the industry, including exploration and evaluation of new mining ventures, engineering and operating mining facilities and the processing of mineral ores to produce products to be sold in global markets. For a large part of his career, Juan worked for Outokumpu (now Outotec) where his roles included Engineering Manager at Zaldivar and Technical Manager for Outokumpu Chile. In recent years, he has worked as a consultant with a number of smaller mining companies before joining Copper Bay as General Manager in Chile in 2010.
