Significant incident and root cause investigation training

The course taught participants to undertake a methodical and systematic approach to fact gathering, understanding causal factors, and identifying root causes through a selection/elimination process. This was done using a method-specific dictionary that recommended possible corrective/preventive actions to address root causes.
As part of CAML’s continued efforts to develop a sustainable safety culture across its operations, 12 senior and mid-level management personnel (nine from Sasa and three from Kounrad) participated in significant incident and root cause investigation training, using an internationally recognised methodology.
The investigation methodology was selected due to its alignment with CAML’s system-based management approach for identifying root causes and corrective actions. This, coupled with the current Integrated Management System, further strengthened the management team’s knowledge of management systems as they investigated high-potential and recordable incidents.
