Dual education at Sasa

Sasa’s dual education programme, delivered in partnership with the Ministry of Education and local high schools, was launched as a pilot in the academic year 2021/22 and has continued to grow in strength and scale.

The four-year vocational course was designed for high-school students, combining classroom learning with hands-on training in mechanical engineering, and mining and geological skills.

Mechanical engineering students were trained at Sasa’s Training Centre in Makedonska Kamenica, while mining and geological tutoring took place at the mine. The programme provided students with practical experience and technical skills beyond the standard classroom curriculum.

As of 2024/25, students were enrolled across four intake groups, with women representing approximately 45% of the full cohort. Graduates of the programme are well-placed for future employment with CAML, supporting long-term local workforce development.

The programme reflected CAML’s commitment to developing local talent and strengthening the pipeline of skilled professionals in North Macedonia’s mining sector.
